The Iron Lady

The life of Margaret Thatcher (1925 - 2013) was shown in the movie The Iron Lady, made in 2011. Meryl Streep won the Oscar as the Best Actress in the Leading Role. I'm not sure if Margaret Thatcher had seen the movie, or what she had thought about it.

I still remember when Margaret Thatcher said the quotes (from Lao Tsu) in the movie:
        Watch your thoughts, for they become words;
        Watch your words, for they become actions;
        Watch your actions, for they become habits;
        Watch your habits, for they become character;
        Watch your character, for it becomes your destiny.

Isaac Newton

In history, one scientist was born on December 25th, 1642, whose name is Isaac Newton (1642 - 1727). Today, the technologies we are using in our modern daily life are mostly based on Newton's work, and James Clerk Maxwell (1831-1879)'s work. They are the 2 of the 3 most famous scientists in the history of physics. As the other is Albert Einstein (1879-1955), whose theories will be the foundation of future technologies.

Merry Christmas

Merry Christmas! Have you ever wondered who else was born on Christmas Day? Apparently many people. It is likely that 1/365.25 of the total population have the Christmas Day birthday, or any other given day (except February 29th, which is 1/1461, because it comes in leap years, which is once in every 4 years). The current population of the world is about 7 billion, so on average, about 20 million people have the same birthday (except February 29th, which is 5 million). That is to say, about 20 million people, who are alive, have the birthday on Christmas Day.
