Kaetlyn Osmond

Canadian figure skater Kaetlyn Osmond won a bronze medal in ladies' singles figure skating at the 2018 Olympics. In 2014, she finished 13th in the same event.

I'm looking forward to the 2018 Figure Skating World Championships, which will be held inMilan, Italy on March 19 - 25, 2018.

Pyeongchang Winter Olympics

The 23rd Winter Olympic Games closed yesterday in Pyeongchang, South Korea. Compared to the summer olympics, I think most (probably all) winter olympic games are fun to participate and fun to watch.

To me, the best event was the ladies's figure skating. The Russian young ladies Alina Zagitova and Yevgenia Medvedeva (and Canadian lady Kaetlyn Osmond) performed superbly. They represented the best of the world.

Of course you still remember the other two Russian figures skaters Yulia Lipnitskaya, and Adelina Sotnikova, right?

Sports Legends

I used to have 6 sports heroes. They were:

Michael Jordan
Tiger Woods
Lance Armstrong
Roger Federer
Michael Phelps
Usain Bolt

But soon after, 2 of them defaced themselves. Therefore, Tiger Woods and Lance Armstrong are no longer considered as sports legends.

Two Other Tennis Legends

As I just said, for most people, winning just one Grand Slam singles title could be their greatest achievement in life.

One such example is the American Michael Chang. In 1989, the then 17-year-old won the French Open men's singles title in his first Grand Slam final. He would be in the Grand Slam finals a few more times, but he didn't win.

Another player is the Croatian tennis player Goran Ivanisevic. In his last Grand Slam final at the Wimbledon, he won the men's singles title with a wildcard. He was in the Wimbledon finals a few more times before, but he lost in all of them.

Michael Chang and Goran Ivanisevic play very differently. They actually have completely different styles. I wonder if they have ever met on court.

A Tennis Legend

On Sunday, January 28, 2018, the Swiss professional tennis player Roger Federer won the men's singles title. This is his 6th Australian Open singles title. It's also his 20th Grand Slam singles title, including 8 at the Wimbledon, 5 at the US Open, and 1 at the French Open.

This is not easy at all. To most people, winning just one Grand Slam singles title could be their greatest achievement in life. So, needless to say, Roger Federer has become a tennis legend.

Caroline Wozniacki

Good news! Danish professional tennis player Caroline Wozniacki won the Women's Singles title at the 2018 Australian Open, the grand slam of Asia/Pacific.

In November 2014, Miss Wozmiacki ran the New York City Marathon. I saw her and called her name "Caroline" when she just came out of Central Park, at E 60th St (about mile 25.2). It was actually not easy to see someone in a marathon crowd. She looked very strong, I didn't see her getting tired at all, and it was almost at the end of the race. She finished the race with a time of 3:26:33.
